About Axle Counter Plus

Lab to Market Innovations Private Limited, in collaboration with IISc, has developed an innovative railway safety device known as the Axle Counter Plus (ACPS). This system is an advanced version of traditional axle counters, which are used to detect and count train axles to determine if a track section is occupied.

The Axle Counter Plus uses Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) technology, offering superior accuracy, durability, and resistance to electromagnetic interference, which can affect conventional systems. In addition to counting axles, it provides data such as train speed, wagon weight, and rolling stock type. It even operates reliably under challenging conditions, including water immersion, making it ideal for modern rail networks.
